ROLLERBOY was originally a fun project that started in 2005 called Jesus Can't Skate. One year later the 85min film was selected for the Australian International Film Festival at Hoyts cinemas in Melbourne and won the Audience Award. At the same time, Producers became involved, and the five year adventure began.
Producer Beth Frey of Circe Films discovered the project and within the year we had successfully obtained funding from Screen Australia under the 'New Director's Initiative' to completely redevelop the project.. the only catch was, they wanted the film's focus to shift from a documentary about 'roller skating' and focus the attention on my lifestory -- we enter the world of ROLLERBOY.
In 2011 the film was selected in the Sydney Film Festival and had its world premiere in front of a capacity audience and some interesting 'promotion' on the red carpet that made news headlines. By 2013, Rollerboy was released and became available on iTunes in the US and Australia, charting in the Top 25 Movies.

'Skater boy swaps silver suit for silver screen'

June 8, 2011 by Clare Morgan

AS A world champion roller skater, Jayson Sutcliffe became as famous for his flamboyant costumes as for his fluent moves on the rink. He will shine again tonight when he dons a silver body suit to walk the red carpet for the opening of the Sydney Film Festival. He might even outshine Cate Blanchett, who will be there as the star of the opening-night film, Hanna. Sutcliffe is making the trip from Melbourne because his directorial debut, Rollerboy, is among 10 films vying for the festival's documentary prize.
