Jan 01/06 Giving back to the skaters..
When I was approached recently to run a seminar in Queensland, immediately half of me was a little apprehensive, after all it's been some years since I have been involved with any coaching projects in Australia (outside of my own students), but the other half of me was bursting to get back out there and work with the skaters. Its almost been two years since I spent 3months in India working and I'm extremely keen. I've also looked at this as a chance to give back to the many people that showed tremendous support at the National championships, in the way of financial donations. Therefore, I have offered my service for the two day seminar free, in order for all to enjoy at an absolute minimum cost (ie: that way the State admin can cover their expenses for the travel, venue etc).. I'm looking forward to the seminar and meeting up with all the skaters. I'm sure it is going to be a fantastic weekend (Jan 21/22). For more info, please contact the QLD Artistic VP.
Dec 29/05 Precision and Show results from worlds..
Apologies for the extended delay in adding the results for the Precision and show events, both of which were spectacular - especially the show groups and the winning team 'Animal Instinct'. Wow.. And for the many who wrote and complained, apologies also. I haven't been able to located the results sheets until now as they were not added to the official site either. [here]
Dec 24/05 The kids are back..
It has been a few months out of action, but the i-sk8r.com kids are back online, in action. This program is still of great importance to me and it is certainly a priority again now that overseas trips etc. are out of the way for the year, and of course - hanging up my own skates frees up a lot of extra time! So its all go go go for the i-sk8r.com program and the kids will be celebrating their 1st Anniversary in January. Three new videos and progress reports have been added to Month 11 of the i-sk8r.com site, including a highlight for the year of Tenielle landing her first Axel on the harness!! Enjoy all and thanks to everyone who has supported the program, and the kids.. [View Month 11 here]
Dec 23/05 Greetings everyone..

Dec 23/05 Skater out of action..
Queensland skater Jayde Morris, has just returned from Rome after competing at the world meet for Precision with her team, Skate Australia, and unfortunately during training on Wednesday night she slipped over and has broken her leg and ankle. Jayde will undergo surgery tomorrow. Let's hope it wont be too long before Jayde is up and about again and we all send her our best wishes for quick recovery.

Nov 03/05 Historical skating items..
This is a call out to skaters/coaches/supporters going to the world meet in Rome. If you have anything of historical value to the sport of artistic skating, something small, that wouldn't be too much trouble to carry (ie: a magazine or photograph etc.) I would really appreciate filming as much as possible of this type of thing. If you do, and are prepared to bring an item a long, please do! The more the better and I'll go in to detail when we meet at the championships! Thanks..
Nov 03/05 The countdown is on..
Only just over a week to go before teams will start preparing to leave for Roma. Athlete listings are being updated daily, and don't forget to get your athlete profile updated in order to have it in place during the meet! [here]
Oct 25/05 Competitor listings - 2005 worlds..
I've started adding names to the competitor listings for the world meet (in 3wks time!), anticipating the release from CIPA - if you have a National team listing of athletes who will be competing, please send it to me so I can update the site! Thanks. Send (here)
Oct 18/05 D'Alisera back in action..
While he missed the Italian championships due to an injury, Luca is back, in action and competed last weekend at the 'COPPA D'ITALIA Memorial "D.Di Giuseppe'. D'Alisera won the cup hands down against competitors from France and Spain and Italy, including Javier Cabeza Ruiz 2nd, and Pierluca Tocco, who was 3rd. With the world meet only weeks away, we anticipate one of the greatest competitions of all time, we speak of the meeting of Riva vs D'Alisera... rivaling that only of 'Lallai & D'Alisera' in 2002 and 'Guerra & Cohen' in 1989 - two spectacular events that had the crowds on the edge of their seats for the every second of each performance. I cant wait personally and I know it's going to be one hell of an event.. Good luck to both Roberto and Luca.. and of course to every other skater competing - oh .. and hey - if you haven't already, don't forget to SUBMIT your athlete details at the MINI WORLD site so that during the meet, as the results go online, people can access your profile for their viewing enjoyment [hereYou can also send HERO MESSAGES to skaters in Rome [here] You can also view the results in full from the Italian Cup [here] Courtesy of Artisticworldcup.org
Oct 12/05 New worlds mini site open.... on standby for the big event!!
Once again, bringing you the up to the minute news, images, videos and updates live from Rome in Nov.. With 1.5million hits on this site during the 2004 meet in Fresno, we are expecting a huge showing in 2005...  [here

Oct 01/05 Australian's dig deep for skaters..
nats_thanks.jpg (53826 bytes)Support during the 2005 Australian championships for the Level 1 High Performance skaters was absolutely mind blowing this week. Opening night, following the short program of the international event for inline, spectators were asked if 'they enjoyed what they saw'.. and then reminded that admission to enter the arena was 'free' and then asked if they would like to make a donation to the skaters? The response was overwhelming and the buckets soon filled with generous offerings from the fantastic crowds. It didn't stop there and it continued during the week with a grand total of $5750.00 raised. Two thousand dollars was donated by an anonymous company and $250 was raised as the result of an item auctioned at our closing night dinner party, an exclusive framed print from the blue magazine shoot I did in 1999 for studiomagazines. Kristen Slade, Tammy Bryant and I, cannot thank the Australian skaters, families, coaches and officials who dug deep in an effort to raise funds for us to get to Rome as a result of the original funding that was in place by the Aust. Sports Commission to cover our trips. This was removed in a shock announcement only some months ago, leaving the journey of these three skaters in question.
Sept 27/05 Nationals update...
jlucia2.jpg (46583 bytes)Last night was the opening for the 2005 Aust. Nationals and it was a great night for all, even though Melbourne turned on one of its coldest nights! Results will be made available asap and I will load them here daily with any hope. Guest vocalist Lucy Najm opened the proceedings with the National anthem that added even more chills to the spine! She was wonderful. Kristen Slade was then presented with 'Senior Athlete Of the Year' award for her success and world no.2 ranking in 2004. Skate Australia precision team took to the floor following that and they looked spectacular, much improved on 2004 and the outfits were great! A show performance was next, 14mins long and Lucy also performed in a 3min section of that (see pic) reworking an operatic track from Circ Du Soleil. The show included more than 50 skaters and it was great to see so many kids involved. The Juvenile girls event, immediately following the show and ceremonies, was an all out victory for Victoria and coach Debbie Mestrinho, who took the top 3 positions. International Inline was up next with all five skaters skating a solid program with Sutcliffe, Bryant and Slade in the 3. The ASDA was right on hand at that point, where all five skaters were hauled off to a secure area for drug testing - that went for hours, and a few dozen bottles of water later! An announcement was also made following the short program for inline, advising that Skate Australia had lost its funding for the Level 1 High performance athletes (top 3 world rankings), which means the funding for 2005 is now non existent, and as 'entry fee' to the championship was '$0.00', they asked for a showing of generosity to assist these athletes to the meet, being their participation was in jeopardy at this late stage. Skaters went through the building with 'buckets' and the support from the crowd was amazing and a huge amount as donations was collected.. We cannot thank you enough for this... More news soon..
Sept 21/05 Australian Nationals...
START SUNDAY!!! It will be great to see everyone. Opening night is Monday at 6.30pm. View the program [here]
Sept 21/05 Skate Australia Fee Structure 2006..
The fee structure for membership to Skate Aust. has been an issue for years, more so has the price of entering a national championship. Let's take this year as an example - some skaters are paying up to $220 to enter! Entry for a skater doing only one event was in the vicinity of $170. Located here is the proposed fee structure for 2006. [View]
Sept 19/05 There's No End To Fashion..
Oz rockers 'End of Fashion' debuted on the Australian album charts with their self titled debut album, 'End of Fashion' in August and are set to repeat their success of the their smash hit single 'O Yeah' with the follow up, 'Lock Up Your Daughters'. The clip for LUYD more importantly, was recently shot in Queensland at the Albany Creek Skate Away rink featuring a host of none other than some of the female skaters from around town, and boy - I've seen the screenshots and they look HOT! BIANCA BURROW, girl - you are SCORCHING! I can't preview the shots yet, but when the clip is available, you'll certainly get a peak here of the all girl ROLLER DERBY action, featuring Bianca Burow, Cassandra Sellars, Adele May, Theresa Chittick, Vanessa Butson, Marty Surman and Jayde Morris. Roller derby, while not an original idea for a film clip, it is certainly taking off across the US with all girl teams competing weekly, shooting film clips, having movies made and appearing in all sorts of media.. Check out some of the great clips and links here: End of Fashion Official, Roller Derby forum, GothamGirls in action (skate video), and 'Red Ants' - Roller Derby Queen music video. News: RollerDerby is back, Hell On Wheels film
Sept 19/05 Precision Teams take to the net..
Argentina is taking the lead of many other international precision teams (Skate Attack, Dream Team to name a few) by setting up their own website, which is fantastic! Teams across Europe host their own sites and the number of them popping up increases every year. Tradequip are of the latest to jump on the band wagon, realizing the potential of promotion on the net. They will head to Rome to compete in the World championships later this year. If you want to check out their site view [here]
Sept 14/05 i-sk8r.com kids go full bloom..
The i-sk8r.com program started just on seven months ago as an idea to monitor the progress of two young skaters, fresh out of learn to skate classes and it soon become a program supported by the state body for roller sports in Victoria (Skate Victoria)... Now, after a short hiatus in updates, I am glad to bring you the first clip of the kids skating since their first encounter with jumping earlier in the year where the emphasis was on applying a strong focus to the technique to jumping. Here, seven months on both Edan and Tenielle display what hard work can achieve.  Both skaters will be looking to enter their first competitions in January of 2006. We endeavor to continue sharing this project with everyone and the monitoring of their progress online at www.i-sk8r.com. Check out the kids video [here]
Sept 12/05 Aust. Champ's official final draft program
Here is the final draft of the program of the Artistic section for the Australian Roller Sports championships, held in less than three weeks.  All athletes names are included etc. Download [here]
Sept 10/05 Europeans Championships
Only a few weeks to go before the many of the best skaters in Europe take to the floor in Padova (19-24 Sept) at the Junior and Senior European Championships. Many use the event as a basis of selection for their National team to determine who shall represent their country and it is by far, the biggest event, with the highest standard on the calendar outside of the world championships. Enjoy the action [here]
Sept 07/05 Taking a look back over the years... a new video collection
Over the coming months I am going to feature a new video clip every week, nothing current - but a collection from the past of different skaters and disciplines, for those who want to know about our skater's history, and also for the loyal skate fans out there who will enjoy the journey back in time. I have to be honest and some of the clips will not be perfect quality, nor high in file size, due to the heavy traffic on this site, therefore the file size will be kept under 2.5mg. The first clip is a mix of b+w & colour due to the conversion of the old VHS tape.... The first clip featured is one of my own, from 1994 - Italy - Long program. Many requests are made via the site for videos, so I am going to trial the historical clips and monitor the response. View [here(.wmv file for windows media only. 1994 World Champs - Mens singles - JS Long program - 3rd place)
Sept 06/05 Promoting Athletes competing at the 2005 World Championships
Promoting our skaters is of the greatest importance and with 1.4million hits on this site during the world championships in 2004, I think a perfect way for the world to 'get to know' the stars on wheels, is by having access to a profile of every skater competing at the event.  Therefore, I have set up an area where SKATERS who will be going to ROME to compete, can freely enter their details, which will then in turn create a mini profile page that will be available for visitors to view as they view the results. Please encourage all athletes you know to update [hereApologies to those who have visited this page in the past 24hrs. There was a technical hitch. All go now!
Sept 06/05 Team Argentina..
The National Team for Argentina has been selected after round three of their National titles held over the weekend. The full team has been listed on Patinvision.com and is now available. DJ Nige, aka Nacho!, has been living in Buenos Aires and has given me a run down on the meet, that report will follow.. See the team [here]
Sept 04/05 Get Your Skates On..
The Skate Australia National Recruitment Day 'Get Your Skates On!', is an agreed day in the year in which all affiliated clubs are invited to conduct their come-and-try days.  In addition to the obvious synergies created through a universal theme, the initiative is also flexible, with each club being able to customize the format/time/date and activities of the day to suit the specific needs/schedules of their local target market. View more info here at the Skate Australia website [here] Courtesy Skate Australia
Aug 30/05 Female skater required by Universal Studios..
Universal Studios Japan has the dream job for a FEMALE SKATER, up for audition. For those who have the ability to dance/peform on skates it is ideal! Now for those who visit this site, I am imagining that it will NOT be a problem for any of you! So if you are quite the performer and could see yourself living and performing in a PROFESSIONALLY produced show in Japan, then click away. Universal are looking for a skater to be a part of a 50's style show. I have attached the application form to participate in the Audition, and there is also a link here to view the site and research the company and shows. As you can see, it is EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL and an amazing opportunity. Download the application [here] View the website [here] Courtesy Colours Entertainment
Aug 26/05 Roller World Cup results.. Stage 1
The Official results sheet from the Roller World Cup has just been made available and I have happily loaded it on to the site for all to view. The final stage (2) of the RWC will be held at the conclusion of the 2005 World Artistic championships in Rome, where the competitors from stage 1 will meet and compete for the grand prize. Luca D'Alisera (left) took out the first stage and will be in Rome to defend both his world men's singles and the RWC title. See results in full [here] Courtesy RWC
Aug 24/05 E - for action..
The online side of the i-sk8r.com program has been on hold since June, but things certainly haven't been off line at the rink. Edan & Tenielle, the two young skaters who are having their skating life documented online have been at it hard, and they love it. The biggest transition occurred last month when EDAN (left) switched from INLINE to ROLLER (recently it's been vice-versa). Edan put roller skates on for the first time in his life 5-6weeks ago and he has taken to 8wheels with great ease and is quickly showing great signs of a future hopeful for Australia.. E certainly stands for Action where he is concerned.. An all new i-gallery has just been uploaded to celebrate the return of the i-sk8r.com online presence. Check it out [here
Aug 20/05 European Championships - Cadet..
The 2005 Cadet European Championships are on this week and will be held in Slovenia from August 23-27. [here
Aug 18/05 Top Aust. out of action..
Australia's current top Junior free skater, Caitlyn Botica from WA, spent almost a month in Italy training with Ruben Genchi, following a successful competition at the German Cup. Unfortunately all that followed from Botica's experience in Italy has been less than pleasant. Firstly, she was out of action in Italy with an injury to her ankle, preventing her training to continue, then its been a hard struggle back on skates while in Australia leading up to her preparation for the Nationals, having spent much time with physic's, personal trainers and her coach Linda Noble.. and now, the final blow - a broken wrist. As Botica was back on skates last night, a patch of water on the rink spelt what might be the final time we see Cait on skates for some time with an injury that will cost her a place on the Aust team this year, sadly. Our best wishes go out to Cait and I am sure she knows that we all want to see her back, stronger than ever in 2006... We love ya Cait..
Aug 16/05 Roller World Cup a great success..
The promotion of Roller Sports could not get any better than via the Roller World Cup. Held exclusively in Sardegna, Italy, proved to be a huge success on Saturday night where locals, in their droves lined up for the outdoor promotional event. With a full report coming soon... you can enjoy a sample of images here in a quick page I've thrown together to give you an idea of what is to come. All results and images will follow with further updates. [here] ... Update: The gallery is now 4 pages!!
Aug 08/05 Australian Nationals Program 2005

Aug 05/05 Meet Team USA 2005
Now the US Nationals are complete, we get to meet the team heading to Roma for the world championships. Winners of the world class events included; Josh Rhoads (Men's), Robert Hines & Aubrey Orcutt (Pairs), Abigail Burris (Ladies), Kyle Turley & Heather Menard (Dance), Sean Arisco (Inline), Shauna McCullough (Inline), Christopher Fairman (Figures) and Sarah Baldwin (Figures). Excellent effort by Derek Leonard (left with trainer Chris Baerg), in his first year world class (senior) who was placed 4th behind the strong field of Rhoads, Jacques and Elliot.  Leonard is proving to be one of the skaters to watch coming out of the US, with his unique style that will certainly see him back, stronger in 06. Watch for interviews with both Derek and Chris on this site soon...  See results in full [here]
Aug 01/05 Ten all round in Italy..
It's a wrap in Italy, with the completion of the National championships and without a doubt, some outstanding performances, many in which were awarded with the perfect score of 10.0.. Riva and Romano top the singles events, Melissa and Mirko take out the Dance and Marika and Federika win the pairs. See full results here Courtesy [RWC]
July 31/05 Riva hits a PERFECT 10...
With news just in on the ArtisticWorldCup site, Roberto Riva almost achieved a perfect set of 10.0's after an extraordinary short program scoring a total of 98.60 (of 100). Luca D'Alisera's run of bad luck has continued sadly and he is OUT, under strict instruction from the Doctors after an accident on the official competition floor during the championships. Mauro Mazzoni is currently in second position behind Riva, with Daniel Bordignon in third. Bruno Rivaroli holds 4th, Andrea Barbieri 5th and Pietro Mazzetti 6th (Men's short results). Tanja Romano, recovered from injury, and after missing the world games, proves she is the best in the world taking a firm hold on the top position in the ladies short program with Annalisa Graziosi and Cecilia Gasparini in second and third (ladies short results). See the action live from the Italian Nationals on the net [here] and stay tuned for more news.. (Dance results) (Pairs short) Courtesy RWC
July 31/05 Invite to World Cup..
I am excited to share the news with everyone, that I have been invited to participate, and compete at the Roller World Cup to be held in Sardegna, Italy on August 13. With the confirmation only having been completed in the past days, I must say - I'm a little nervous about competing against everyone on 'quads', being that I'll be the only InLiner amongst the best skaters in the world, all skating on roller, possibly including Riva, D'Alisera, Romano and more!! The event is purely an invite only competition, based on entertainment value as well as the technical aspect. So I'm looking forward to the challenge that's for sure, and of all the events I've been lucky enough to participate in over the many years (and yeah, there's been quite a few!!!) I have to say, this is one that I have been hanging out for and now its all systems go. For more info on the Roller World Cup [visit the official RWC site here
July 30/05 US & Italian Nationals - results

July 27/05 Rough 'Rhoads' for Josh...
josh6.jpg (24802 bytes)Having returned from his recent trip to Germany for the world games, Josh Rhoads (USA) tells of his nightmarish arrival in Germany that ultimately lead to his withdrawal of the event. Upon arriving in Germany, Rhoads explains that there wasn't anyone there to pick him up and after several calls and attempts to make contact, he tried to make his own way to the hotel and venue, taking several hours, including a two hour walk. A long flight, not much to eat and no sleep, Rhoads was not in anyway up to a training session and when he did take to the floor trouble started in his leg, partly due to muscle fatigue and ill health as a result of the arrival mess up. Performing at less than 40% ability in the short program, and a troubled training session the next day, Rhoads decided to pull the plug to avoid any further damage to his leg and to focus on his efforts at the upcoming US Nationals. Rhoads was a hot favorite for the world games gold, however.. his efforts will be aimed at the world podium in late November now..
July 27/05 Rita Returns...
Former Portuguese champion Rita Falcão is back after a six year hiatus and has returned in grand style taking the silver medal at the recent National championships. Falcão, now 31, is working as a Doctor and is rumored to have been invited to perform at the Roller World Cup scheduled for August 13. It's great to see Rita back on wheels...
July 23/05 World Games - LAURA & FRANÇOISE make their mark on top..
fc3.jpg (30429 bytes)The results are in from the world games and a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to LAURA SANCHEZ from Spain (right). Technically, one of the greatest female athletes in the world, with her amazing quality of triple jumps, Sanchez has tirelessly proved in training that she is capable of putting down a performance that would give her the world crown, only it hasn't come together on the big stage, and now it has.. with a huge jump in the long program from 5th in the short program to WIN the long program. This is excellent news. The silver medal going to Lucija Mlinaric is an amazing effort and possibly a first for Slovenia. Another first, would have to be for FRANCE, with FRANÇOISE CATTOIRE (left) taking the Gold in the Men's competition. This is definitely the biggest moment of his career, not having taken a medal on the world podium previously, a huge step for him. Well done!!  Albert Trilla, who was first in the short program has to be happy with a silver medal and a big introduction to the senior competition for the new young guy with a big future ahead of him. Neil Emms (GB) and Diana Ribeiro (POR) both took the bronze medals.  No changes in the Pairs, with Degli Esposi & Zanforlin coming home on top, proving too strong for the competition from Germany and the USA. And to cap things off, all round favorites Coffele & Bornati came back from second position leading into the free program and captured the Gold. Gasparini & Gasparini in second, and Boggs & Locke (USA) the bronze. It appears Joshua Rhoads may have suffered an injury during the short program as he is listed as withdrawn from the long program, sadly. We are waiting confirmation on this news. Full all results, visit the official World Games results page here.. Click on the second listing for each event to get the final result sheets. July 23/05 World Games - Short program ..  Results
Like they say, its what happens on the day right!! Short program results are now available in full via the official World Games site.. Congratulations to Albert Trilla (Spain) and Lucija Mlinaric (Slovenia) for taking pole position in the short program, a fantastic achievement for both skaters. The dance result looks very interesting so far with Gasparini & Gasparini ahead of Coffele & Bornati by only one judge's preference. Zanforlin & Esposti (I got one right at least!!!) are in the top spot with all five judges. The LONG programs will prove very interesting as we all know, it's what happens in the long that is the decider. Read a special report from the World Games on the official site for the Spanish Federation (good to see them so up to date!) here. [FEP.com] Good luck to all the skaters and well done so far.. [view short program results here] Courtesy the Official World Games site. Choose any of the PDF links, they are all the same.
July 22/05 World Games - Short program ..
The World Games are up and running and it does look weird not seeing an Italian athlete's name in neither the men's or ladies free skating events. Will Josh Rhoads take the gold in the Men's? Diego Dores (BRA), Manuel Magalhaes (POR) pose the biggest threats.. And will Laura Sanchez hold off Aubrey Orcut and Nina Zöllner (GER)?? Without Romano, Ariolla and D'Alisera, the gold is up for grabs in both events... Coffele & Bornati (Dance) are almost as certain for Gold as are Zanforlin & Esposti (Pairs) but I guess we'll have to wait and see... My money is on those guys those and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Rhoads.. He deserves a shot at gold, he's awesome.. More news soon and if you would like to see the skating order for the short program events today [view here] Courtesy of driv-rollkunstlauf.de
July 21/05 South American Championships - Infants!
The South American Children´s Championship is in progress at the moment (18-23 July) in Tunja, two hours out of Bogotá (Colombia) at almost 3000m above sea level! There are youngster competing in the event from Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, México, Paraguay and Uruguay. The team sent from Argentina is apparently enormous, with a total of 43 skaters, including a precision team precision and officials. More info [here] Special thanks to DjNije for the update. More news from Nije soon.
July 20/05 Come FLY with EDEA...
EDEA SKATES have done it again and come up with the hottest new boot on the market, the FLY.  This new boot is already in use across Europe and was recently seen promoted at the World Ice championships in Russia, the Filippini Trofeo in Misano, and next stop - the US & Italian Nationals. The response to the boot has been astounding and I am happy to say I now have a pair waiting to go on my V1 Frames and I cant believe how comfortable they are. The all new fibre boot design makes them even lighter, ultra light in fact and especially soothing to the 'eye' and foot!!! More details available soon. In the meantime, you can see the FLY promo [here] or visit Edeaskates.com
July 19/05 Crowder goes X-treme in Hollywood..
Billy Crowder, former champion pairs skater from the US (now coaching & he competed at several world meets and ranking in the top 5 with Candice Heiden) is no stranger to Hollywood, especially when it comes to wheels. He has appeared in numerous films, music videos (Mya - FREE) and TV productions, for most of - body double work for actor/skaters. Currently in production now, Crowder is on location at the set of a new feature comedy about a skater (at this stage I cannot disclose too many details)... However, Billy is shooting all the body double parts for the main character, after taking up the offer most recently advertised on this site for the job via a contact I made in L.A. Apparently, Crowder's work has been sensational and he has been a big hit on the set. I know the producer is very impressed with his skills and he couldn't have been more perfect for the part. Excellent job Billy!! Here's hoping this will lead to bigger and brighter things in tinsel town. Pictured: Billy and I, recently at a training session at the Fountain Valley rink..
July 19/05 Another big blow for the World Games.. D'Alisera - OUT
15dec03luca06.jpg (19192 bytes)Only just announced on the RWC site, LUCA D'ALISERA (left) has officially withdrawn from the World Games. Last week, we learnt of the withdrawal of Tanja Romano, today its Luca. Two athletes who work their butts off, yet plagued by injury, sadly. The big question now is, will they both be fit enough to compete in the Italian championships? Lets hope so.. Best wishes to you both...  However, this proves very interesting with news that Daniel Ariolla is also rumored 'not' to be attending, leaving the gate wide open for the USA's top gun, Joshua Rhoads to take his first step up on to the big podium... Good luck Josh..
July 19/05 The long road to the World Games for Mexican team..
Bad weather has struck again, this time in Mexico, where Hurricane Emily is causing all sorts of havoc. Tamara Campos, Mexican Team Coach, has informed me that her team of Celia and Guillermo Sansores qualified for the World Games in Germany and that they are having many problems getting there. Firstly, (as with most skaters around the world) there was no financial support, and they had to pay everything. "It was a hurricane grade 5 and just the day we were supposed to take the plane it came. We are ok now, and we hope we can leave tomorrow but we take the plane from Cancun and we have to go by bus, it is 4 hours away from Merida, the place we live. Maybe the road has suffered some damage, if that happened it would be impossible to go. We hope we can finally make this trip, it is so important to us, as it's the first time a Mexican team can go to this kind of event and I am very proud to be a coach" says Campos. We wish them well on their journey and hope it's a safe one, for all.
July 19/05 Upcoming Events..
This month has some of the biggest (and best) skating events scheduled, including the U.S and Italian National championships, the World Games, and of course - the Roller World Cup. Don't forget that you can book your front row seat to the Italian championships and watch it online at RWC (logo left). July 16/05 Coolest skating site on the net... 70's style
I have just come across simply the coolest site on the net about skating, one that is going to keep me entertaining for weeks to come.. If you want to know anything about skating from the 70's, early 80's.. or if you remember the fantastic ROLLER BOOGIE movie.. then this is your site to visit. There is a special area dedicated to star of the movie, Jim Bray, and the film itself.. its great! Seriously, there is even a collection of EVERY 'Skate' magazine cover for the 60's and 70's. Skater bios, loads of photos, info about competitions, results and loads more. I'd like to think that in 20yrs time (gulp) people will be referencing this site in a similar way.. but really I LOVE THIS SITE, its the campest thing I've ever seen!... Go, check it out here.. (you'll be surprised by some of the names your know!) Pictured left in 1973 is RANDY DAYNEYRight: LINDA HAWTHORNE in Fall `66   [ENJOY SKATING IN THE 70'S] images © sue-a-miller.com
July 16/05 The Olympic bid..
Documents have made there way on to this site that have been forwarded from the FIRS President, Mr. Sabatino Aracau post the announcement by the IOC that NO new sports will be added to the 2012 Olympic games program. I have made the two documents available, the first is a letter from Aracau, outlining his good intent for the FIRS bid to the IOC, the second is a letter from Jacques Rogge (in Lausanne on July 13), advising that the IOC session did not allow any of the five applicant sports to obtain the needed 2/3 majority to be included in the program. July 12/05 Tanja Romano - injured and out of World Games..
Tanja Romano, the best female roller sports athlete in the world, is injured and has had to withdraw from the upcoming World Games event to be held in Germany, on the advice of doctors. Romano has suffered muscular damage and it is hoped she will be able to compete at the Italian championships at the end of the month and the first round of the prestigious RWC (Roller World Cup) in Sardegna. We send our best wishes to Tanja for a quick recovery. [worldgames]  [artisticworldcup.org]

July 11/05 Inliner's clean up..
The skate off in the long program last night at the Victorian state meet was a highlight for the meet, and for the sport. In the space of three years, the skating displayed proved that quad-turned-inline skaters can really cut it on the scene and with each of the top three all performing flat, clean double axels to open their program, it was on for young 'and old'!!! Tammy Bryant, first off the mark made her return to competition evident, with a solid performance and scores from 9.1-9.6. Kristen Slade, another perfect double axel out of the way and the pressure is on. This was undoubtedly Kristen's finest performance since her world no.4 in 1998 (junior ladies f/s) and scored in the 9's across the board. Currently world no.2, Slade currently features in her local newspaper, celebrating her achievements. Andrew Bassi proved a newcomer can have just as much fun, a good double axel attempt, and nice program made for an impressive debut. Sutcliffe's closing effort was the decider and the pressure was on.. With his new 'i,Robot' creation (more like 'i,rolaboi'), a choreography effort between him and Rachael Young, proved popular with the crowd and 9.8 from the judges.. Definitely a successful event with the word inline stamped against it for each of the four skaters.. More news soon.. July 11/05 US Nationals venue hit by bad weather..
The unfortunate weather in Florida, USA, is so bad (hurricane) that it has cast doubts as to whether or not the championships will in fact be able to run in Pensacola. Let's hope things smooth over there for all..
July 10/05 No Olympic dream Roller Sports..
News courtesy of Skatelog.com The decision has now been reached by the IOC and there will be NO new sports added to the 2012 Olympics, sadly. The next round of voting will not take place until some time around 2009 and between now and then, the focus for Roller Sports will be to focus on improving in the areas in which they were rated low by the program.
