01, 2010 Skating
venue in Rome to make way for Grand Prix.. |
In
Roma, Italy - the home of former world champion Luca D'Alisera
his coach Gabriele Quirini and and top international athletes
such as Cristina Trani, Dario Betti, Alessandra Spigai and
more face a tough battle against the City of Rome as their skating
club - which has been there for decades and is home to speed and
artistic, is set to be demolished to make way for a Grand Prix
track! The location of this club is unique and has produced many of
the worlds best skaters over the past decades. Please support this
group by 'Liking' it on Facebook [here]

30, 2010 Europe
to quickly adapt 'new ages' per category.. |
|
CEPA
have not wasted any time changing the ages of their grades to run
inline with the 'change' made in 2009 at the CIPA meeting announcing
that the Junior age limit would be increased to 19. This change
highlights CEPA's ability to make changes quickly to benefit the
skaters and they continue to have grades that benefit the age groups
of the skaters which makes perfect sense. Soon enough it is hoped
that there is a format that is adopted around the world to assist in
making the development universal. More news on this story at

Jan
20, 2010 Sk8rAid
goes out to the world... |
Recently
I thought about how small our skating community is in terms of
sharing knowledge and how little under developed areas have access
to good coaching and thought, what about a facebook page where all
the coaches and athletes, officials and supporters can share their
knowledge, discuss events, techniques and upload videos and photos,
stories and so on.. moments later, Sk8rAid was online and
within 4 days I had over 1,000 fans sign on in support, which is
truly amazing, now inside a week there are almost 1,500 fans. I've
uploaded 4 videos (see above for example of one) so far from my time
spent at the Italian Stage in Rocaraso, where all the master coaches
met and ran a truly amazing workshop with more than 150 skaters and
90 trainers. It was phenomenal. Anyway, the videos have been getting
amazing responses and it seems there is a need for it and personally
I think its a huge step forward for our sport, for our trainers to
communicate and for the development of our athletes. If you are
already a member, great - thanks, if not be sure to log onto
Facebook and become a fan [here]
