| It
has been a long time coming, but the Spanish have made their
mark on the world roller figure skating scene and the best is
yet to come.
At
the recent world championships in Murcia, Spain proved not
only are they are team to be reckoned with, they also proved
that they know how to put on a show. The world championships
was possibly the BEST in history. The organization was superb,
the scheduling ran smoothly and the promotion of the event was
outstanding with live TV coverage daily, print media and
celebrity artists performing at the opening and closing
ceremonies. On top of all that, the athletes were provided
with the best possible amenities, also complimentary drinks
and snacks throughout.
But
it has been the onslaught by the athletes that has been the
biggest hit, with skaters like CARLES GASSET,
LAURA SÁNCHEZ, MÓNICA GIMENO, and JAVIER
CUESTA already making waves on the world scene. And we
aren't just talking singles skaters here, Spain is taking over
in every event including Show Groups, where they have been on
top for two years consecutively. Carles Gasset has proven to
be the biggest shake up with his climb to the Top 4 of the
MEN's singles, and threatens to take the podium easily in the
coming two years. His amazing assortment of triple jumps is no
less of his counterparts who dominate the field.
While
Spain may not have won every event in Murcia, it wont be long
before this country takes over, and good luck to them -
they've worked their butts off and its time for the pay off.
Spain - we salute you and your fine skaters, coaches and
officials. |
