Former National Champion, now super model..
Spencer Webber from Western Australia: wheels to the runway. It's like a fairy tale really, just over one year ago Spencer was competing at the National Championships in Melbourne... now he is on the verge of supermodel status and a move to the UK to become stable mates with Kate Moss at Storm agency..
I met up with Spencer on the weekend during a casting for an international commercial and over a few drinks at the Melbourne Airport Hilton, this is what he had to say....
Update:14 Feb:  Spencer will be shooting this week for Vogue in Sydney and also New Yorks hippest magazine 'Paper'. See Spencer on the cover of Oyster Magazine in April.

Spencer Webber: Feature celebrity interview 'life of a super model'....
Q1: How long has it actually been since the last time you skated?
A1:My last competition was in 2000 in Melbourne at the National Championships, though I did go for a casual skate a few months back for fun.
Q2. Is there any particular reason why you gave up skating?
A2: Narrow minded attitudes and the lack of progression with the sport generally.
Q3. What lead you in to modelling?
A3:  It's kind of a fairy tale really. I was scouted on King St in Perth by Vivian of Vivians Modelling Agency. She is the head of the agency and based in Sydney. Following our meeting her daughter flew across to Perth to meet with me and discuss the future. It all started to happen from that day.
Q4. What kind of work have you been doing since signing with Vivians?
A4: I've done quite a few small editorials for Perth street/style magazines like Express. I worked the run way at Style Aid, Mercedes Fashion Week and I have done some work for GQ, Process and an upcoming issue of Oyster Mag.
Q5. Are there any exciting projects in the works or coming up we should know about?
A5. I will be doing catwalk work for Melbourne and Sydney Fashion week which is coming up and when I go to Europe I will work London and Milan fashion week there.
Q6. Has there been any relationship between the skating and modelling?
A6: Actually, I will be on skates at the next Style Aid show in Perth soon. So it will be interesting being on skates on a runway!
Q7. Is there anything you miss about skating?
A7:Yes, the people and my friends. I also miss the thrill of executing an item perfectly, it was always a great feeling. And I miss doing inverted camels. I loved doing them because no other guys did them and that was my motivation to do one properly!
Q8. What exactly are you doing in Melbourne this weekend?
A8: I'm doing a casting for an International Japanese agency for some television work in Japan. It's a quick trip and I will be only here for the day.
Q9. I'd like to know who your favourite designers are actually and what magazines you enjoy reading?
A9: Well.. let me see! I love Alexander McQueen, Tsubi, Roy, Comme des GARÇONS, Ace.. there are so many! As for reading, I cant get enough of magazines - I love reading them. My favourites are; iD, Black+White, Blue Mode, V, Oyster, Paper Mag, Wallpaper, Fruits, The Face and Italian Vogue (L'umo).
Q10. You look great! What are you doing to keep fit?
A10:To tell you the truth... I'm pretty care free. I swim a little but I haven't been and don't do any excercise now! As for eating, well... I eat everything!
Q11. Is there a particular feature you look for in a person that you like?
A11: I like someone with a great personality that really gives them a presence... people like that have a great aura about them.
Q12. What fashion can we expect to see you wearing in the future?
A12: Aside from what I will be wearing at shows etc. I guess I'll have stuff from, Tsubi, Paul O'Connor, Varga Boys, Lux & Amy Frans accessories, 11:11 and things I have made myself!
Q13. It's been great doing this interview. Do you have a message to those reading this interview? (and then we can finish our drinks!)
A13: Be individual and be yourself. If you are ever faced with a knock back in life don't let it hold you back in anyway. It's all about being in the right place at the right time - make your destiny happen..
Best of luck for the future Spencer.. Thanks for spending time with us.
