Athlete of the month: Tanja Romano - Italia
2003/04 World Champion: Tanja Romano of Italy. To date this year, Romano has had a very impressive resume with a win at both the German Cup and Italian championships. Tanja's impressive jumping leaves people breathless. She can clean perfectly triple flip, lutz, salchow and toe loop with spectacular height. Her artistry is beautiful and her long program in Wuppertal to Vivaldi's, Four Seasons, was magical. Tanja was ranked 2nd in 1999 at the Junior World Championships with 2002 marking her impressive return to the main stage. She is a true athlete with the mind and body of Olympic Gold.
Tanja is our 'Athlete of the Month' title.. Salute!!
Tanja Romano, world champion in 2004, has taken to the world of fashion and hit the catwalk in extrodinary style at the latest parade for celebrated Lebanese designer, Abed Mahfouz. Romano, and fellow world champion, D'Alisera, are the first to appear in a collection of HAUTE COUTURE (see above left), and Mahfouz's January 2005 collection is amazing. Romano starred in the show with her "model figure and breathtakingly long legs, flowing blond hair, and blue eyes" and could perhaps take the modeling world by storm.
What does Tanja like about the sport? "I like the training and competition, I love it all. I like to feel the emotion during a performance and the translation to the audience. I like to feel the strength of being an athlete".
Influences? "I feel very inspired by the Italian skiier, Deborah Compagnoni. She is elite in every way, her character & personality is very strong and I admire that very much. She is also Olympic Champion and the best".
Your favourite competition? "Wuppertal - 2002 is very important for me because it is the first time I have been selected to compete in the Senior level. It has been a long time since my first world championships and I am very happy to compete in 2002".
Interests: Music, film.. everything...
