Feb.08/01 Athletes.....
This is a call out to all competitors on both inline and roller.. I'm hoping to update my 'interviews' and 'athlete of the month' sections, though its difficult when I have little spare time to track people down all the time.. so if there are skaters out there who want their 15mins, don't hesitate to send me through your details.. If you have time, fill out a profile form and in the comments, advise you are submitting it for an 'athlete or interview' update and I will contact you! Cheers!!
Jan.28/01 Requirements & Registration for 2003 GERMAN CUP..
Dozens of requests have been made for the requirements for the 2003 German Cup, held in Freiburg May 30-31, and now I am happy to be able to supply you with all the official details, forms and registration information. The grades to be contested are:
SENIOR, JUNIOR, YOUTH AND CADET. Please note that there will be NO Dance, Inline or Pairs events. This is strictly free skating and figure International meet. (why the exclusion of Inline exists, perhaps next year!). All requirements for each event can be found within the word document. This invitation is extended to every skater and is contested by more than seventeen countries, an event most definitely one you should include on your list of MUST DO comps for 2003.

Jan.24/01 High Performance... high temperatures... high rollers...
As the first International High Performance Camp in Narrabeen with European Coach, Peter Berlic, comes to a close today in NSW, many of the skaters who participated will find themselves a little 'worse for wear'... The camp was hugely successful and proved very popular with the skaters, though many who aren't used to the rigorous off skate regime set by the camps co-ordinators, soon became victims of injury. The work load was intense and left many a sore muscle to be had, especially Jenny, who worked her butt off, so much so in fact, we laughed tirelessly about how sore she reminded us it really was! A full report on the camp will be found here and on the Skate Australia site shortly. In the meantime, below are a few images of the past days at the NSW Sports Academy amidst the soaring temperatures.. You can also keep up to date regarding the HPC by visiting the Skate Australia site, go to Artisitc... HPC..

Jan.20/01 Catch a glimpse of perhaps the greatest jumper in history...
It can easily be said that TIM McGUIRE from the USA is easily one of, if not the all time, most technically brilliant jumpers in the world. For those of you who don't know the living legend, Tim burst on to the world scene in 1981 and won 3 consecutive titles, wowing the audiences with spectacular triple Lutz jumps and amazing performances that were extremely dynamic and powerful. Along with Tim, there were many other fine athletes in their day and CANAMCREW are bringing it all back.. Check out their newly updated site that includes a huge variety of videos, including the amazing Tina Kneisley and Paul Price.  My suggestion, go STRAIGHT to the clips of TIM McGUIRE.. Long live the legend! There's also some pretty cool clips of the guys from CanAmCrew too, including Eddie Byrd and Jason Cohen. Check out their site [HERE]..

Jan.11/01 Attack of the vampire...
florencia.jpg (16239 bytes)The gorgeous, Florencia Sachero, from Argentina, may not have been seen on wheels on the world circuit since her last Top 3 medal winning performance in 1999 on the Gold Coast, but she is certainly making circles on the big screen. Like other skaters in Argentina, post roller sports, have found themselves involved in media and modelling work. Florencia, goes another step further and features in the brand new video clip for their countries hottest band, Juana La Loca, and their new track "Perdí la fé". Sachero, in the clip falls victim to the band who are all vampires..
Jan.11/01 Dedication In-line...
ally_jay.jpg (129426 bytes)Young skater, Ally Mulvey from New South Wales, jumped in the car this weekend and drove eight hours down to Melbourne to do some hard work on inline. Ally, only eleven, got her brand new Custom V1 Frames for Christmas and was over the moon. She had been wearing a pair that belonged to her coach, Lisa Allport, and they were missing the centre wheel! So she couldnt wait to get in to her skates and make the trip down here. It was great to meet Ally and her family. Ally says she wants to get involved with Inline while it is still a new and growing discipline. She loves Tammy Bryant and thinks she is wonderful. Ally also skates roller and has been working on Inline for about three months and plans to participate in both quad and inline competitions this year. If you have just started competing/using Inline and want to send your details, let me know about, I'd love to hear from you... [here
Jan.03/01/ New Championships up and running..
jax.jpg (17113 bytes)The New Zealand National Championships would most definitely be the first competition of the year, anywhere in the world.. The event started this week and will run through until the weekend. What better way to spend your New Years??? Yes, well... Jacqui Innes (pictured) has already taken out the Senior Ladies Figure event after a slow start on the first figure, Jacqui fought back and showed what she was capable of. Things haven't been going so well for 2002 World combined Junior No.3, Sarah-Jane Jones, who has been very ill and has had to withdraw from her Inline (first year in) event and her dance events. It is hoped Sarah will be well enough to compete in her long program. Three girls from Great Britain are competing at the championships in the Solo Dance events. More news, see SkateNZ offical site.

Dec.18/12 Inline Artistic Videos online...
As many of us aim to promote Inline Artistic and its huge potential, EIFSA continues to grow also and with it, a great site on the net where many videos are added and continue to be added. Samantha Bennis does a great job in maintaining the EIFSA site and running the mailing list and yahoo group. New videos have just been added to the site, including former National roller champion Cameron Savanah, who after a four year hiatus has returned to the sport, this time to take the Inline challenge and already proving a strong contender for the 2003 Australian Team. Go [here] to see videos amongst the growing inline collection with many more coming soon... Inline Freeskating in Australia is also making its mark already with some big guns testing the waters and achieving some great results including former World Champion Tammy Bryant and World Junior No.4 Kristen Slade who will both now compete only on inline in 2003. Nov.30/12 World Cup Gala: P&B remain triumphant...
Leading up to the opening of doors at the 2002 Artistic World Cup, the crowds showed their support in droves and flocked to the stadium in Firenze to witness the greatest event of the year in roller sports, filling the Palace of Sport to its capacity. Tickets went then went on sale for standing room only due to the heavy demand.

Following the first round of the 16 athletes and some fine performances, the eliminations took place and it was goodbye unfortunately to both Daniel Arriola and Joshua Rhoads. The lucky athletes to proceed to the final round were, Beatrice PalazziRossi-Patrick Venerucci, Heather Mulkey, Luca Lallai, Roman Tanja, Soledad Martinez-Pedro Moreno and Luca D' Alisera.

Beatrice and Patrick were triumphant again. Performing in 2002 in front of nearly 8,000 spectators they just held off Heather Mulkey who was runner up in second position. Third went to the Spanish sensations Martinez & Moreno, 4th - Luca Lallai, with his Vampire program, 5th - Luca D'Alisera (who's calendar almost SOLD OUT!! and performed both programs topless!) whilst 6th position went to Tanya Romano. The competition was tight and some outstanding programs were skated by all included.

More news available soon... Congratulations to Patrick & Beatrice, yet again! Visit the official site here.

Luca D'Alisera will launch his VERY OWN brand new 2003 Calendar at the World Gala this weekend in Florence. In a progressive move to take the sport to a new level, D'Alisera and coach Gabriele Quirini, would like to think that in producing such elements will also bring attention to the sport that is focused so much on ice skating. Luca has capped off 2002 with a brilliant performance at the World Championships in Wuppertal and made history by completing the first perfect triple axel in competition on roller at the Italian Championships. Luca will compete on Nov 30 at the Artistic World Gala against many of the other greatest athletes in the world as a result of rankings from the world championships. Details on how to obtain the calendar will be found here shortly. If you are lucky enough to be in Florence this weekend you will be able to grab yourself one of the first copies made available..
