Australian
states join forces to create the Ultimate Team... |
| Jodie
Johnson & Esther Ambrus have been busy with their
heads down and planning a way in which Australia could form the
ultimate Precision Team to compete at an International Level.
In combining the two elite coaches teams, they have commenced a
National Precision Squad between. The top ten athletes from each
team will be selected and they will encompass the team that will
compete at Worlds in 2003. With a training plan in action Jodie will
travel to Sydney in three weeks to begin working on the routines.
The team, once selected, will then travel between the two states,
Queensland and NSW. The pair also have their eyes on having the team
prepared for the Oceania Games early in the new year held on the
Gold Coast. I also believe that they are looking for interest
expressions from any strong skaters in the areas and they are also
on the lookout for some sponsorship!! Stay tuned for more news on
the Team's progress. |

even I find it hard to get some news to add to this site - believe

That's why Im sending a call out to all you skaters, coaches,
officials out there! If you have anything at all worthy of inclusion
on this site, please write me [here]
and I will definitely get it on here! At least the World Cup will be

Worlds in
Buenos Aires.. the hot new rumours! |
| The
rumours are heating up around town as to where the 2003 World
Artistic Championships are actually going to be staged.. we have
it, 'on good word', that it is hotly rumoured that the event is
likely to be held in one of the grandest theatres in Buenos Aires,
'Luna Park', famous for hosting concerts to some of the
biggest rock bands in the world and situated in the heart of town
and only blocks from where many of the scenes of the movie 'Evita'
were filmed.. Luna Park is also only metres from some of the towns
best Hotels, inlcluding: Park Hyatt, Sheraton, Intercontinental,
Hilton and more, ensuring athletes will get the best of both worlds
in town and within walking distance. And even better news, the
closing dinner party will be held at one of the 'hottest' night
spots in the city, 'Divino Buenos Aires'. One of the most
popular new places to be seen at, right on the river.
Under one roof are several clubs and restaurants and its
standing room only on the weekends.
Within Divino, you will also find: The Limbo Bar, or
the Divino Danceclub. If all this is too much, you can
venture outside to the Terrazas del Divino for some fresh air and a
fabulous view of the city reflected in the river, sounding good
isn't it! Well, fingers crossed and bring on Nov 2003. |

New
November edition of Eissport Magazine.. WOW!!! |
The
brand new edition of Eissport has just hit the
stands and it again, features quite a bit of information on
Roller and this time, Inline skating. Generally, the magazine
is an Ice Skating venture, with a small amount of roller
included. The magazine details are available online here
and details also found below.
The front cover includes a small shot in the top right corner
of Daniel Arriolla from Argentina. Included also is a
special about the Inline World Championships, Junior/Senior
Worlds and Luca Lallai and his amazing triple axel.
The back cover of the magazine is dedicated to Luca's jump and
shows an amazing collection of motion shots, also pictured; Heather
Mulkey USA. In Wuppertal, I
was interviewed for this edition and it features, (pictured) with Samantha
Bennis, International Ice and Roller
Coach. I cant read any of the writing in the interview, but I'm
sure its interesting and its great promotion for the sports! |

Australian
Nationals date change.. |
Skate
Australia has confirmed that the Artistic/Inline Hockey
National Championships will NOT be held in July as originally
planned. The Championships will now be contested in September from
the 27th to October 4th, with a proposed dinner to be held on the
Saturday evening - Oct 4th. This, no doubt, will increase the
competitive season for all skaters rather than it ending in July. It
will also benefit the Australian teams who are selected to compete
at the World Championships in Argentina as they will not commence
until November 20th. |

Triumphant
return to form for Lisa... |
| Not
since the world meet on the Gold Coast in 1999 have we seen on
either the local or International scene, until of course this year
when Lisa made a spectacular splash back in the big sea. Lisa
Gobby, from Western Australia, has held a very credible list of
rankings at world level during her years as a Junior athlete, being
as high as 7th in 1997 and 1999. Lisa has also competed at worlds
with partner Chris Backrack. But it was in 2002 in Wuppertal
when Lisa re-entered at no less than the No.2 position
after the Junior ladies short program, followed closely by Sarah-Jane
Jones, New Zealand, and just behind Italy's Sonia Traversa.
It was quite a highlight for all the Australian athletes as it was
the highest position to date any junior skater had held after the
short program. The competition in the long program however was
extremely tough and both Lisa and Sarah were more than happy to have
achieved personal best positions, Lisa earning 5th, Sarah-Jane 7th.
Sarah also took 3rd in the combined event which was a fantastic
effort. Lisa is coached by Linda Noble. Click

Former
Skate sisters survive brutal bombing in Bali.. |
Leanne
and Samantha Woodgate are no strangers to Roller
Sports, Leanne having won Nationals and represented Australia
throughout the years, and both girls competed at the World
Championships in 1999 and placed 5th in Precision. Now, both working
outside of Roller Sports, faced their most terrifying ordeal one
could imagine. Here's what is printed in today's Headline news of
the Herald Sun: Melbourne sisters Samantha and
Leanne Woodgate somehow survived. They suffered burns to the face,
back and legs and are on their way home. Leanne, 26, a
remedial masseur who works for Carlton Football Club, and Samantha,
28, a beauty therapy student, had been staying at the Bounty Club
with many Australians. "They're alive – that's all I wanted
as a mother," their mother Kay told the Herald Sun.
"I'm luckier than some." Our
best wishes go out to the Woodgate family and of course the girls.. |

Lallai
reigns supreme.. |
Luca
Lallai proved to be unstoppable this year in Wuppertal. Now,
four time consecutive World Mens singles champion, Lallai got the
crowd on their feet by opening his long program with a triple axel.
Following that, he completed a perfect, triple lutz-loop-triple
loop-loop-triple loop combination that sent the audience in to a
wild frenzy. The night was still young and two minor slips in
Lallai's long had everyone holding their breath and asking if
D'Alisera would steal the crown. Luca D'Alisera did not
disappoint, following Lallai and his perfect score of 10.0, Luca
took command and also opened with a fantastic triple axel.
D'Alisera's long only had one fault, being that he did a double loop
on its own instead of triple loop, having already completed two
triple loops in combination off a triple lutz and triple toe loop.
Luca's program was amazing and his scores had him just slightly in
front for the long program. It was definately a close shave, but not
enough to hold off Lallai, who now reigns supreme.

The live
let down... sorry guys... |
I
have to apologise for the disappointment to all during the World
Championships.. I had set up a comprehensive area for the World Live
updates, everything was ready to go, it just needed me to connect in
Wuppertal and get to work! What I wasn't planning on, was being in a
hotel that had digital phone lines nor the ability to get a local
internet provider subscription! So on both counts, I lost out big
time, therefore..... I let everyone down! Im sorry guys... really
am.. So for now, Im going to start by opening up image areas, that
way you can catch some of the action. I have full cd of images
arriving shortly and they will all be going online.. meanwhile,
heres two pages of them for you to enjoy! Thanks to Kristen and
Bryan. See: Page [1]
