Daniela Rodas: Champion of Argentina
Q1: Have you been involved in Roller Sports for long?
A1: I started to skate when I was eight years old, like a hobby and when I was nine I started to compete.
Q2: Which championship have you enjoyed the most throughout your skating career?
A2: My favourite championship was in Colombia in 1998 because I can enjoy a lot, we stayed there for a long time and with a very good group of skaters, there I met a lot of champions that I admired a lot. It was a very exiting experience.
Q3: Would you like to be part of a professional skating show that toured the world?
A3: Yes, I would like it a lot. I sure it will be fun and that will make me introduce new friends in the sport
Q4: As a freeskater, what is your opinion on figures? Do you think they should remain a part of the world championship or do you think that they should be removed like the Ice World Championships?
A4: My opinion about it is that is the first in our sport because the figures are the basic thing to learn skate because of this in my opinion it can not disappear even if I donŽt like it.
Q5: Do you prefer to jump, spin or perform?
A5: A5: I like so much when I jump and make spins and I have to put attention the performs because it is the part most difficult for me. I suppose I am more technical than artistic in my essence.
Q6: Would you say that the popularity of skating has increased in your country or not?
A6: A6: In my country, the popularity decrease in part for the economic situation of Argentina which is not good and almost our sport hasn't the support from the government
Q7: In Argentina, what types of shows do you have for skating throghout the year, if any, to promote the sport?
A:7 A7: In Argentina, it usually invite champions from others countries for the shows (like Luca DŽAlisera, from Italy and Eric Anderson from USA), but the problem is that the organization can't do that some people who was out of our sport have interested on that kind of events. Always the public in this shows is the same people (the skater and with lucky their families) We need promotion by publicity on TV or radio or important magazine but for this we need money or sponsors.
Q8: I heard you appeared in a TV show with some other skaters last year that must of been fun?
A8: A8: Yes, it is true. I have been in an interview on TV. It was in sports channel in my country and I like this so much it was funny but I get nervous, for lucky, the TV show was engraved and we can stop when I need and I start again when I was OK
Q9: What sort of questions did they ask you on the show?
A9: The questions are about me and my time in the sport, they like to know about when I was started, where and who were my teachers and who was more important for me and some questions about my career and my objectives. It was an interesting interview for the people who don't know nothing about me.
Q10: Do you teach any young skaters? If so, what advice would you have to any younger skaters around the world?
A10: Yes, I do. I teach in a club and I have about 15 o 20 pupils. I teach them that is important that they are good people in anyone sport that they chose to practice. In the case that they like skate I say them that they have to enjoy when they are in a competition, they have to do the best and in the same time they have to be good partners with their opponents. I say that is essential that they never feel the best because we can improve always in all of the things in our life.  Like a teacher I see them and I try that they know her errors alone and I recommended them the solutions I don't like to force them to do something that they can't do or they don't like to do I try to give them all of that I know. I don't have secrets for my pupils but I know that some teachers do that, more when the teacher still competing
Special thanks to Daniela for her time and effort in speaking with JS..
