Australia's Junior International star...
Following her success at the 2001 Australian Championships with a win in the Junior International Ladies Freeskating, Caitlyn has become our newest 'Athlete Of The Month' on this site.
Caitlyn withdrew from the National meet last year due to illness and quickly got back on track and went on to take 2nd place at the Oceania Championships held earlier this year in Cairns followed by a win at the Victoria State titles.
Outside of skating, Caitlyn is actively involved in dancing and modelling with good friend (and former student - now living in WA) Janelle Payne.
Caitlyn has taken some time out to answer a few questions for me in the lead up to her first appearance at the Junior World Championships held in Florence in Nov.

Caitlyn Botica: Feature interview and athlete of the month
Q1: When did you begin skating and which club were you are member of?
A1: I started as a six year old in the country town of Kalgoorlie (WA) in my new pair of 'Barbie' skates. I moved to Perth in 1994 at the age of 7 where I skated for the Balcatta Club. (now closed)
Q2: What are your goals for the future?
A2: My goals are to compete strongly at my first Junior World Championships and to hopefully represent Australia at many more Worlds and eventually work my way into a top ten ranking.
Q3: How do you feel about competing at your first World Championships?
A3: I feel very excited, as I have only watched Worlds on video. Looking forward to actually competing and then staying on to watch the Senior World Championships.
Q4: What message do you have for other young female/male athletes striving for excellence in their chosen sport?
A4: Live and aim beyond your dreams and always strive to achieve your goals, but most of all 'ENJOY IT'..
Q5: Can you tell us a little about your coach?
A5: She is a mad 'Kylie' Fan who always gives 100% I wouldn't be where I am without her.... and she is a (big) little freak!! :) and very dedicated!
Q6: Have you ever trained overseas and would you like to?
A6: No, I haven't trained overseas as yet but I would love to train with Florencia (Argentina) or with Amanda Bryant (Australia), who are both my idols!!
Q7: Tell us what motivates and inspires you to be the best:
A7: Because I love my sport and if I become the best I have achieved my ultimate goal.
