23/04 Celebrating
Slade..
|
Congratulations
to KRISTEN SLADE, Australia's newest WORLD SILVER MEDALLIST.
Kristen is no stranger to the world scene, having ranked amongst the
Top 5 on four occasions since 1995 in the Junior world rankings for
roller. Her passion for the sport never ceased and in 2003 she
embarked on a mission to take the world by storm on Inline - in 2004
it was realized, and with a world NO.2 ranking.. Excellent work Kris -
Australia salutes you... and that is LONG OVERDUE!! [See

|
|

22/04 Traffic
explosion...
|
|
In
2001 there were almost 200,000 hits on this site during the
world meet. Last year and in 2002 it peaked at approximately 290,000
hits at the close of the championships... but in 2004 - between
November 10-21, there have been 324,310 (thousand) hits from
more than 18 countries (a daily peak yesterday of 56,311).
This is amazing - for the sport and for the athletes! It's an
advertisers dream, but I would like to make it clear, this is a
non profit site and no monies are made as a result of any
promotion on this site. All promotion is all purely for the sport
and the continued support of its athletes. Thank you to all those
who have visited ... I cannot begin to imagine how many hits there
will be by the time the Senior competition finishes, Let's aim for 500,000
and in 2005 - why not 750,000??!!! Bring it on..

21/04 Silver
for Slade... Gold for Italy..
|
 Kristen
Slade has taken the silver in the Ladies inline, continuing
Australia's successful run of world rankings for Inline since 2002,
and Silvia Marangoni (right) has returned to No.1
(formerly 2002 world champ). Brazil's Gustavo
Casado de Mello has won the silver and Adrian Baturin
has moved up in to 3rd from 5th in the short. Lorenzo Ronci
(left) will be celebrating as he has hit the top spot and won his
first world title. Congrats Lorenzo.. Australia's Nadia Zacharia
moved in to 6th and Sarah-Jane from NZ has won herself a
bronze medal. Congrats.. Full results not in yet, but almost there..

21/04 Inline
Short Program Results & Show Groups ... Thanks
to (rollkunstlauf.info
&
driv-rollkunstlauf.de)
|
|
Brazil
take the pole position in the Men's short program for Inline with Gustavo
Casado de Mello coming out of nowhere to take the
lead. Italy's Lorenzo Ronci is in second followed by Chia-Hsiang
Yang of Taipei. Spain take another Gold for the
championships, this time in the Show Groups and Italy take second
and third.. All results [here]

21/04 Aussie
on the verge of making history...
|
Australia's
Kristen Slade (left), who has competed at eight world championships
(ladies Figs/FS), this year finds herself in 2nd position
behind Italy's former world inline champion Silvia
Marangoni. Apparently it was a very close competition with
judges favoring those who DID NOT spin on their toe stops (some did
due to the tightness of the floor). Sarah-Jane Jones (NZ),
making her first appearance at world level for inline, is in third
position behind Slade & Marangoni. As for Slade, if she is
(we keep fingers crossed) to hold on to her 2nd position or even take
the gold, she will become one of only few Australian competitors to
win an individual medal at a world championship (or World Games) in
the last two decades. All the best Kristen, we all love ya. Kirsten
will skate her long program 9th, Marangoni 8th and Jones 10th.
No official results are available as yet, and I hear the men's event
was interesting with Lorenzo Ronci (favorite and 2003 world
no.3) taking a fall on his required combination jump. Let's hope he
can make it up in the long... More Inline news very
soon...

20/04 Junior
comp nears end.. Riva shines
|
We
are already almost done with the Junior events - how time flies. Word
just in reports that Australia's Nadia and Caitlyn both
skated well in their long programs. Roberto Riva (left) has
taken out the men's event and in his program he included the
combination of Triple lutz- loop- triple loop- euler- triple flip.
Simply outstanding for a junior athlete, absolutely amazing. He had
only one error with a fall on a triple loop jump on its own.
NZ's Sarah-Jane Jones is confident she can do well in her long program
and hold on to, or move up, from her seventh place in the short
program. Kristen Slade has drawn 9th to skate in the
Inline event, while fellow Aussie, Nadia Zacharia has drawn
6th. Former world champion, Silvia
Marangoni
has drawn 10th to skate. More news and results soon.

19/04 DAY
2 Round up
|
The
Gold medal for Dance has been handed to Italians Nicola
Cimatti & Arianna Bertoni, a
convincing win. Roberto Riva has one his THIRD consecutive
Gold medal in the Junior men's figures, while at the same time -
holding the top spot in the men's short program too. If RIVA
wins the gold (who could stop this guy!!) he will be the first skater
since Chiara Sartori to win 3 consecutive titles for both
figures and freestyle & combined to total 9 gold's - an
outstanding achievement.
Ilenia
Baldisser (Italy) has taken the silver in the junior
figures behind Ashley
Hinton (USA) but she is in the hot spot after the
short program. Spain is right behind in second in both the men's and
ladies events and Slovenia's Lucija
Mlinaric has taken the no.3 position. Matteo
Guarise & Sara Venerucci have a convincing lead
in the Pairs event - Sarah, daughter of multiple world champion
Patrick Venerucci.

today and he will not be heading to the US with the Argentine Senior

15/04 World
champion withdraws..
|
We do
not have any information as to why, but we can confirm that Kathryn
Kimura from the USA (world dance champion and pairs medallist) has
withdrawn (sadly) from the championships.. There is no news
on a skater who will take her place and at this late stage it is very
unlikely and unfortunate that the 3rd ranked skater at the US
Nationals will step in. (update:
Brittany Stewart will be competing in the Junior ladies event)
In
other news... Sarah-Jane Jones from NZ is ecstatic with her
draw in the junior ladies f/s, drawing last to skate. The pocket
rocket from down under and former world bronze medallist (2002
combined) will compete in both the combine figs/free event and also
the ladies Inline free skating. Caitlyn Botica, Australia, drew
17th - also happy with her draw. Both have commented that the floor
surface is extremely tight - very common in the US.
