Above: STUNNING performance by Daniel Arriola, marking his triumphant return to roller sports

News Updates:

Nov 21/09 Senior WORLDS are now COMPLETE..
What a night full of excitement and drama with the epic performance by Daniel Arriola who sadly received a deduction in his score that cost him possibly the world title. Andrea Barbieri who skated a BRILLIANT short program skated strong in the long program but with minor errors left room for Tocco, Gassett or Arriola to pose a threat, however he remained on top and has won his first world championship, a skater who has dedicated himself for almost a decade to the international scene, a medal well deserved. Deborah Sbei stole the crown from former champion and queen of roller sports, the legendary Tanja Romano, who in many eyes was still the winner. Italy stole the top 3 positions with Cristina Trani skating her way to bronze all the way up from bronze. Full results including Precision here.  [SENIOR RESULTS] [PRECISION] [VIDEOS]

Nov 20/09 Senior Dance Comp/OD, Solo Men's & Ladies and Pairs results ..
Full results for the Senior Dance, Solo Men's and Ladies and also the Pairs events. USA's Robert Hines & Aubrey Orcutt (2nd) and Argentina's Javiel Anzil & Jesica Machin (3rd) will be celebrating with their medals in the pairs event, an awesome achievement for the two couples alongside the winners of the event from Italy, Daniele Ragazzi & Giulia Merli. Portugal will also be celebrating gold with Hugo Chapouto's win ahead of last years winner Daniel Morandin. There was movement in the ladies event also with the winner after the first round dropping to fourth and Paola Fraschini jumping up from third to take the gold. Full results [HERE]
Nov 19 2009 More results up now.. Men's and Ladies short, Solo Dance, Pairs...
The men's short program was won by Andrea Barbieri who out performed, out skated the entire event by far and beyond, he was absolutely incredible and while skating first up, he took control of the floor and commanded attention, just amazing. The return of Daniel Ariolla can be hailed as 'triumphant' after his 2yr hiatus, Ariolla stormed back into the number two spot in the short, the highest of all his rankings in the short of all his world appearances. Spain's Carles Gassett was in third while 2008 bronze medalist Marcel Sturmer struggled with the floor in practice, he also had some slight problems in the event finishing in sixth. David Malagon put on a great showing to hold fifth behind the Luca Tocco who appeared a little more nervous than usual, and who wouldn't be entering the floor after Barbieri had just blitzed the opening skate. The ladies event proved to be very interesting with some contrasting ordinals, and surprise errors, more noticeably by the queen herself Tanja Romano who also appeared to be struggling with the floor and had two major falls that failed to break the flow of the exceptional choreography by master choreographer Sandro Guerra. The big surprise of the night was from USA's Kylee Burger who put on a great performance to find her in third. World junior champion Deborah Sbei was another who took control and is leading Romano into the long program. Hot favorite Cristina Trani is sitting in eighth after a terrible fall on a spin (can we blame the floor again please), at the same time performing the best jumps of the night with the exception of a single axel instead of double - there's no doubt she is the master of the triple toe loop though, just incredible. France's Marine Portet I thought was a real contender and packed a program with some really difficult content, in fourth, she will be a threat for the long program alongside Trani and Lucija Mlinaric (5th). We are going to see some real movement in the long program, the ordinals from the short are all over the place and its anyone's game from here on in.. Full results [HEREWatch the interview with ANDREA BARBIERI [here]
Nov 18/09 Senior Men's Figures - a close to the line finish..
Marco Santucci (winner) and Andrea Poli (second) of Italy finished on top of the field with USA's Kyle Turley taking the bronze in the men's figures. Looking at the ordinals for this event you will see just how CLOSE this event was. Turley in fact had the highest points and three first placing's, but the ordinals for the top three were all over the place and the calculating went in the Italian's favor. What an event! Elis Carriero (ITA), brother's Lars & Fabian Clad and Markus Lell, all from Germany fought it out amongst the top seven. Full results [HEREPictured left: Marco Santucci. Image by Raniero Corbelletti
