News Updates:

Nov 29/08 New VIDEOS - Senior Men's LONG program - RIVA & BARBIERI
I had previously loaded clips courtesy of FIHP of RIVA and BARIBERI's long programs, however they were not full length programs.. 'Vampire' on youtube has now loaded these in full and I've included them in our video files.. [here].
Nov 25/08 New VIDEOS - Junior Ladies LONG program - Cristina Trani (ITA) + more..
One of my favorite performances of the entire championship - the gorgeous Cristina Trani.. I say lookout Senior's in 2009 and beyond, coz here she comes!! I've also updated two more clips - Argentina's Naomi Coronel (Senior Ladies long) and Italy's Dario Betti (Junior Men's Long).. [here].
Nov 24/08 New VIDEO - Senior Men's LONG program - Manel Perez (ESP)
Another great performance from a skater who suffered a bad injury during practise for the long program - Manel Perez (ESP).  Manel had to have his shoulder heavily strapped after dislocating it. On the morning of the long program competition, Manel could hardly manage a double jump, so for him to pull this program out on the night was amazing and a real test of strength and determination. Manel finished in seventh.. [here].
Nov 24/08 New VIDEO - Senior Men's LONG program - Marcel Sturmer
Until now, I've only been adding links to the clips available through FIHP, but as there have not been any other skaters outside of the Italian's, I decided to start adding some now I'm home.. First up, a worthy candidate, Marcel Sturmer, 3rd in the men's freeskating after a great performance..  [here].
Nov 24/08 New VIDEOS - Senior Men's LONG program & Free Dance..
The men's Long program selection has just been uploaded courtesy FIHP along with the Free dance selections [here].
Nov 22/08 Men's FINAL and Combined results now online..
Riva was AMAZING!!! What more can we say?? He skated with such a presence the win was undisputed. Barbieri in second, fought hard for his second position but skated with such a strength, the silver was all his. The bronze was going to be a battle from the beginning between Tocco and Sturmer, but Marcel pulled out a brilliant performance with no errors to claim the medal, but it was Francois Cattoire who presented the biggest threat, moving up from sixth in the short program to take fourth. There was movement among the top group with Shingo Nishiki breaking in at number ten and Josh Rhoads moving up to eighth. Results [here]
Nov 22/08 Men's long program.. BRONZE for STURMER!! SILVER for Barbieri and RIVA reigns SUPREME!
Results for Men's LONG program NOW online... Men's combined event being added as we speak.. Carles Gasset takes the bronze, Rapael Egli the silver and Riva wins a second Gold. [here]
Nov 22/08 Senior Dance Final..
The Dance final results are now online.. Gasparini & Gasparini claimed their first gold medal with an amazing performance tonight (choreography Gabriele Quirini), earning five perfect scores of 10.0. Former world champions Pontello & De Candido skated brilliantly with a technically & artistically superb program (choreography Sandro Guerra). USA's Turley and Menard held onto third position with stiff competition from Italy's former world junior champions Alessandro Piva & Anna Remondini. The event was complete with skill and artistry, more so from Spain's Oscar Molins & Ayelen Constantino who skated flawlessly with stunning unison. Full results [here].
Nov 22/08 Men's long program..
The first three groups of the men's long program skated this afternoon and there were some strong performances. Christian von Kanel, Frederic Garcia and Raphael Egli lead the group with the strongest skates, which will apply the pressure to the lower echelon of the top group to perform in the next twenty minutes. More news on the mens long soon..
Nov 21/08 New VIDEOS - Senior Ladies LONG program..
The top three from the ladies Long program have just been loaded courtesy FIHP [here].
Nov 21/08 New VIDEOS - Men's short program and Pairs long..
Videos have been loaded on to youtube (courtesy of FIHP)  from tonight's short program for the men and also the Pairs long program lastnight. I've loaded them all onto one page and will continue to add.. I'll also load more when I return to Australia. View [here
Nov 21/08 Solo Dance final - spectacular..
Italy's Daniel Morandin dominated the final of the solo dance with scores as high as 9.9, he was absolutely AMAZING, especially his lateral twist jump! Proving that the quality of solo dance can be equally as spectacular and artistic as in couples. Hugo Chapouto moved up from third to second with his brilliant performance full of intricate steps and leaps. Alessandro Spigai rocked the house with his hip/hop urban inspired program, a winner with the crowd and his Adidas style skate covers were really cool. Florence Gerber held sixth position, from third through to 13 there were little changes, however there were some standout performances including Anthony Peck, Florence Gerber and Marie Bacquey...  Results in full [here]
Nov 21/08 Senior Ladies Long & combined results online ..
The Ladies LONG program results are now online.. [here].... Tanja Romano proved again she is undeniably the champion, earning 6 perfect scores of 10.0 for artistic impression, with choreography by Sandro Guerra. Italy made another clean sweep with the top three going to Romano, Graziosi and Genito. There was a number of upsets and changes in ordinals, notably from Nika Arcon and Lindsey Mann, both moving up several positions. Taipei's Hsiao-Chu Wang performed no less than seven triple jumps (attempts) in her program to finish inside the top ten. Right down to the rankings in the twenties we were seeing triple combinations, double axels and good combinations.. Look for videos soon..
Nov 21/08 Senior Men's SHORT results online ..
The Men's short program results are now online.. [here]. The top five placements in the men's were amazing! Riva, leading the pack wowed us all with his perfect program, no hint of a fault, absolutely flawless and scored 9.9 from all seven judges on the B score. Marcel Sturmer and Andrea Barbieri were equally as brilliant with perfect performances also, although Sturmer was marked very low in comparison, but holds a strong third ahead of Tocco, who was spectacular. Standout perfromance from Francois Cattoire (FRA) to be holding sixth behind Carles Gasset (ESP) who nailed his triple loop combo. A great event overall, ending with a solid performance from USA's Joshua Rhoads (we'd all be hoping for it), who made the top ten.

Nov 20/08 Senior Ladies SHORT program ..
Tanja Romano leads convincingly in the short program, opening with an awesome double axel and finishing with scores ranging in the high 9's up to 9.9. Annalisa Graziosi was last to skate and nailed a brilliant triple salchow combination to start and a spectacular triple mapes. Taipei's Hsiao-Chu Wang was a bit of a surprise package, much to the delight of the home crowd, landing all her items and completing some great spins to end in an amazing 7th position. Spain's Alba Perez took control early in the pack and holds 4th behind the three Italians, Romano, Graziosi and newcomer Osalba Genito. All round the standard was quite high with numerous double axel and triple jumps completed... Long program takes place tomorrow and if Romano holds, she will become the first skater in history to win SIX singles worlds titles.
Nov 20/08 New Gallery (11) ... Great imagery from Seniors..
More fantastic new images by Raniero. [here]
Nov 20/08 Hero messages (spam) ..
Apologies for the constant spamming on the Hero messages page. Spam rubbish has been loaded there consistently and I've removed 99% of it in an effort to make it easier to read. Hopefully this wont continue, I've attempted to block it. Keep the messages coming in though, they are great!!...
Nov 20/08 Senior Ladies SHORT results online ..
The Ladies short program results are now online.. [here]. Report soon...
Nov 20/08 Solo Dance ..
The male skaters dominated the field in the Solo Dance, scoring in the high 8's and 9's. Italy's Daniel Morandin & Alessandro Spigai hold firm in first and second with Hugo Chapouto from Portugal in third. Australia's contingent performed strongly amongst the tough field. USA's Anthony Peck and Joseph Farias both hold in the top six with Florence Gerber being the only female to break the all male group.
Nov 20/08 Solo Dance results online (OD) ..
The Solo Dance compulsories results are now online.. [here]. More news soon...
Nov 19/08 Pair's short program..
Matteo Guarise & Sara Venerucci hold the lead and look to win the title with ease. Their short program was effortless, with only a minor error on the side by side jump, although 9.9 was awarded from the Italian judge among other high 9's to take pole position. USA's Robert Hines & Aubrey Orcutt are holding third, their short program was really entertaining and the crowd loved it, and it was close between second, third and fourth, so it will be interesting to see the long programs. Floor conditions appear to prove challenging more so for the pairs, notably in the contact spins.. More soon...
Nov 19/08 Pair's short program results online ..

Nov 16/08 Results for Inline, Show Groups and Precision all online..
Results in full have been loaded for all show groups, inline and precision [Inline] [Precision - Show Groups].
Eric Traonouez made history this evening by winning the first world title for France at a world championships (non world games), a great moment for all athletes and the French team, but the celebrations continued when the gorgeous young skater from Taipei (Chia-Ling Hsin) moved up from fifth in the short program to take the Bronze in the ladies. She faltered on the double axel to begin, but she thrilled us all with a spectacular finish. Kristen Slade moved from third to second to hold her medal position from 2007 with a solid performance while Carlos Urquia from Argentina was spectacular to take the silver and Marco Viotto from Italy maintained the bronze. The PRECISION event, while small, was great, with a high level of skill and artistry displayed throughout, especially from the winners - 'Milenium' of Argentina. The team from Taipei 'Powerful Skating Team', had the crowd on their feet clapping for its entirety and Tradequip were a crowd fave for a medal, sadly they were fifth overall. More results as per above links..
Nov 16/08 New Gallery (8) ... Great Junior imagery..
More fantastic new images by Raniero. [here] (all galleries loaded on same page)
Nov 14/08 Inline short program results ..
The inline event proved very interesting this evening. Kristen Slade started off the women's division strong with a solid performance but had a hand down on the lutz requirement jump and finished in third. Italy's reigning world champ, Silvia Marangoni is holding first, while Melisa Marcon from Argentina flew in second. Natalie Motley and Shauna McCullough from the USA also round up the top six, both skating fantastic, and Chia-Ling Hsin from Taipei holding fifth. In the men's division, current world champ Gustavo Melo took the floor first up, but had a disappointing start with a fall on his lutz and failed to hold with the following strong performers pushing ahead of him. Eric Traonouez from France did a beautiful routine and is the clear leader, followed by Carlos Urquia of Argentina who showed the style that won him the gold in 2006, and Italy's Marco Viotto. First timer, Philip Gibson from the USA also did a great job and holds a strong fourth. Short program results [here].

Nov 13/08 Web cast live... Not..
I have received SEVERAL complaints regarding the webcasting not taking place, unfortunately that is beyond my control I'm sorry to say and I have no means or access to providing such a service.. There has been no suggestion here either that it will take place sadly, so as it stands at this stage I can only suggest that there will be no webcast. Hopefully in the future this will not happen again, but there have been enough issues at this championships already without the additional stress of webcasting added. Today midway through the ladies freeskating, the power went out and the judges system went down completely, for starters... lets hope things improve.
Nov 13/08 Update: Junior ladies Freestyle..
Loaded: Ladies Freestyle short program placings [here].
Nov 13/08 Update: Junior Freestyle..
Unfortunately the results sheet was 'lost' on the way home so I'm not going to have the results asap but I can give you a brief on the men's and ladies events.. First up, Deborah Sbei, overall a solid performance given she was the FIRST skater in the event and the pressure of the floor and conditions, she skated very well and is winning the short program. Argentina's Estafania Algeri is in second and Spain's Julia Rey in third. Australia's Stephanie Campbell was 7th, just behind Italy's glamour girl Cristina Trani, who under the pump unfortunately didn't produce the goods, but will be on fire for the long program without a doubt, with the triples to prove it. In the men's singles, Dario Betti opened strong with a blistering short program, faltering only on his triple lutz combination, but was solid on all counts, followed immediately by Luca's Zanchetta who sat in second position until Spain's Xavier Gonzalez blitzed the floor to hold third overall. Germany's Markus Lell blew everyone away with a great performance and knocked Betti off the top spot to close the competition. USA's Alex Poland skated with awesome speed and had one of the better artistic programs of the night.. Results in full [here].

Nov 12/08 Junior Men's & Ladies Figures results ...
Apparently the figure event was very 'eventful' and congratulations goes to Julia Woyciechowski (GER) for retaining her world title from 2007. USA secured second and third positions by Brittany Adams and Jessica Feurerstein. The men's event was won by Elis Carriero, Italy's first gold medal for the championship, along with a bronze by Luca Zanchetta. Germany's Yannick Neumann won the silver. Results loaded here. [results]
Nov 12/08 Update: The FIGURE COMP has been completed ... results
The Aust. Team manager has just returned and the results are complete and the figures were completed successfully after a two hour delay. I'm waiting for Tammy Bryant to arrive on the bus now with the results sheets, then I will add them immediately. At this stage, at least we know we are back on track and the competition tonight will run as scheduled. I can reveal though, sadly there were some thrills and spills during the figures, with a number of touchdowns... a downside of poor conditions. On top of this, the bus timetable is proving to be horrendous also with people pulling out their hair trying to get to the rink on time as it is taking approximately 70mins to get from the main hotel to the stadium!!
Nov 12/08 Update ...
Now that I am here in Kaohsiung, I can promise more updates and info as it becomes available. Stay tuned.. J
Nov 12/08 FIGURE COMPETITION cancelled..
I have only just arrived in Kaohsiung and the first thing I heard at the airport via other Italian's I ran into was.. "The figure event was just stopped because of the floor conditions".. I'm yet to hear of any updates, but the morning session of the figures was stopped and the practise session in between was also cancelled. Apparently the afternoon session of figure competition will be held as soon as the floor situation is resolved. Let's hope that is soon.
LEFT: Official's desperately try to clean the floor. A combination of 'coca-cola' and something else is being tried but only proving beneficial for a short period. If you have any experience with slick floor solutions, please email me here so I can pass on the tip.. They surely need it! This is really just putting too much added pressure on the skaters, and of course its a world championship - a time when skaters want the floor to be perfect.. [email]
Nov 12/08 New Gallery ... Opening night ceremony Junior..
New images courtesy of Tammy Bryant and Nigel Foster (AUS).. Some great images of skaters from all countries [here]
Nov 10/08 Training cancelled today due to bad surface conditions!
News just in: Official training today has been cancelled due to the floor conditions being so bad. Apparently the surface has been SO SLICK that it was deemed unsafe and practice will resume as per normal tomorrow. Perhaps any other skaters yet to arrive, BRING YOUR GRIP WHEELS!! Just in case...
